      The Role

      Do you possess two or more years of experience in medical stop loss underwriting? Do you have a solid technical understanding of medical stop loss underwriting support function? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.

      We are a full service Managing General Underwriter, looking to add a Medical Stop Loss Underwriting Assistant to our team.  This positive, collaborative, professional work environment is a great place to work and grow in your field of expertise.

      Key Responsibilities:

      The key responsibilities of a Medical Stop Loss Underwriting Assistant include, but are not limited to:

      • Review new business and renewal submissions for completeness. Professionally communicate with our producers if additional information is needed.
      • Accurately prepare the RFP submissions for the Underwriter’s analysis.
      • Assist the Underwriting staff and management as requested.

      The Benefits

      • Salary from $50,000 to $65,000.

      The Person

      The key skills and qualities of a Medical Stop Loss Underwriting Assistant:

      • Stop loss carrier experience is preferred
      • Proficient with the Connexure system is preferred
      • Strong mathematical, data analysis, file research (problem solving), communication and customer service skills
      • Solid understanding of Stop Loss terms and terminology
      • Proficient in Excel, Word, Adobe and Outlook
      • Highly detailed oriented
      • Able to multi-task, prioritize and complete assignments/tasks timely
      • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience

    • Medical Stop Loss Underwriter (Junior to Senior) –

      Key Responsibilities:

      The key responsibilities of a Medical Stop Loss Underwriter, but are not limited to:

      • Understand employer benefit medical plans and be able to analyze risk from a stoploss perspective, including specific and aggregate coverages.
      • Investigate case-level information to properly assess risk and work with producers in placing coverage.
      • Operate within established underwriting guidelines and profitability targets.
      • Responsible for new business production and managing renewals.
      • Responsible for final policy signoffs, proposal contingencies, and final risk assessment.
      • Demonstrate strong decision-making skills with appropriate accountability and ability to support these underwriting decisions.
      • Manage workload to be consistent with company customer service standards.
      • Have a solid understanding of the market conditions and be able to adapt.
      • Display teamwork and collaboration with internal and external partners

      The Person:

      The key skills and qualities of a Medical Stop Loss Underwriter:

      • Stop loss carrier and MGU experience preferred.
      • Proficient with the Connexure system (ESL aka David Young) is preferred.
      • Strong mathematical, data analysis, complex problem solving, communication and customer service skills.
      • Able to evaluate and price groups without relying on predictive modeling.
      • Proficient in Excel, Word, Adobe and Outlook.
      • Detailed oriented.
      • Able to multi-task, prioritize and complete objectives – frequently with short deadlines.
      • Must have a mind-set to always learn and be considered a trusted expert.
      • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
      • A proactive solutions-oriented attitude.
